This year was the third year robins have nested under my carport. The first year I watched as four babies hatched, grew and fledged. The second year I witnessed a crow taking all the babies from the nest.
This year there were two that hatched and were thriving until they were stolen from their nest. I have not seen many crows this year but there are more bluejays than I have ever seen. I am suspecting it was a bluejay that took the babies. It happened so fast I could not see the thief very well as it flew away.
Daddy robin was in a tree nearby and took off after the culprit squawking loudly. I have not seen him since then.
Mama robin came a few minutes after the theft and looked everywhere for her babies and was calling for them. I cried and felt so sorry for her losing her babies and not knowing what happened to them. She eventually flew away and I have not seen her again either.
