  1. Mourning Doves are so common, at least here in FL, that many people do not think much about them. But when we stop and observe them, we discover that are very beautiful birds. The soft colors vary a little between individual birds and light makes them shine in beautiful hues. Great pictures, Mags!

    1. We don’t see very many in my area so I am very happy these 3 stay around my place. There were 4 of them but one was killed awhile back. Thank you, I am glad you liked the pictures.

    1. Yes, they do and I really enjoying hearing them coo. I just left your blog now I want ice cream. 🙂 I eat it year round but haven’t made any in a very long time. It is so much better than store bought.

    1. They are for the most part very gentle birds. I have seen a couple of them scuffle a few times over food. Did your grandmother like doves?

  2. Great photos, Maggie! I like how you captured the delicate coloring on these beauties, which are easy to miss if you don’t look at them intently. We love listening to mourning doves; their coos are so soothing. Hugs to you, Pooh and Chancy.

    1. The beautiful blue grey color did not show up very well since they were in mostly sunshine but most of the colors show as they are. I too love to listen to them coo. Hugs to all of you and I hope lots of kitties find their way to their forever homes this year.

  3. I love mourning doves, We are lucky to have them here as well. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs, Julia

  4. Oh they are so lovely & beautiful…I miss our Mourning doves here…a lot. They were such gentle birds & they would walk by Nylablue when she was out in Condo. They must have sensed she was not a threat…Aren’t birds wonderful Maggie?

    1. I remember your doves from the past. I so wish you still had them to enjoy. Yes, birds are wonderful, I enjoy them so much. Hugs

  5. I LOVE DOVES… we just heard them cooing a few days ago.. we used to have them all the time and hear the cooing but the hawks ate them all. we are hoping they are making a comeback. these are sure pretty

    1. So sorry about the hawks eating the doves. I hope too they come back. There were 4 of them for a few years but something killed one of them about 3 years ago. The 3 are still staying together and here at my place.
